"Gradations" Artists
Amir Shahlan Amiruddin constructs narratives in a variety of media, moving shadow puppet characters through richly textured cityscapes.
Meaghan Busch evokes a dreamlike landscape with prints and soft sculptures of circus animals in captivity.
Jessica Clements' paintings of childbirth place unusually intimate portraits of mother and child in an art-historical context.
Jennifer Fairfax breathes memories into photographic form by combining objects from her family history with self-portraiture.
Clarita Herce covers large canvases with undulating forms of saturated color that weave through an imagined space.
Deborah Lash creates theatrical photographs of women in distress based on characters in ancient literature.
Susan Serafin casts male and female torsos in latex rubber, crafting fleshlike aprons that question body image and gender ideals.
Gwynneth VanLaven uses 3-D installation to recreate a waiting room full of surprising details that address perceptions of wellness.

Big things are happening...
An Alumni Show comes down on the 30th. As a closing event we are going to have an artist talk on Tuesday the 21st at 7:oopm. This will begin with questions for the artists about their work and life after graduation and then will open to the floor for anyone to ask whats on their mind.
Also once this show comes down there will be a print/art sale to help clean out the studios at Mason before our move into our new building in June as well as a fundraiser. The event is going to be 2 weeks long and will be hosted by the printmaker's guild.
George Mason University printmaker’s guild is a student-based organization with goals to promote printmaking in the college and the community. We would like to use “Point in Space” gallery in Fairfax Virginia for two weeks in May to display prints and to sell promotional items, including print works, in order to raise money for student lectures and trips to printmaking conventions. Our goal is to fully fund our trip to the 2010 SGC Conference in Philadelphia. We will have volunteers to host the openings on Saturday, Sunday, and lunchtimes during the two weeks in May.
